Framed a wall backwards in a client's garage in Cleveland last spring
I was working on a garage reno in Cleveland and my helper handed me the wrong plans. I spent 3 hours framing a whole wall before the homeowner walked in and asked why it faced the wrong way. We had to tear it all down and start over. Now I double check every blueprint before I cut a single stud. Has anyone else had a job site mix-up that cost you time?

Funny how one small mistake like that makes you realize how easy it is to skip the basics when you're in a hurry, and it's the same way with most things in life - we only learn to slow down after we've already tripped.

My first big screw up I started writing down the plan name AND the date on the top corner of every page before I even looked at the measurements. I use a SHARPIE too so it's impossible to ignore. After that wall came down I also started laying all the lumber out on the floor in the shape of the wall first to see if the layout made any sense at all. It adds maybe 10 minutes but it saved me from cutting a whole wall of studs 2 inches short last month.
