Vent: My resume rewrite took 3 months because of one dumb requirement
I kept applying to places around Austin and getting ghosted, so I finally asked a recruiter what was wrong. They said my resume lacked 'quantified outcomes,' but every job I looked up wanted something different, like dollar amounts or time saved. I spent 3 months reworking it five times just to match what one hiring manager at a logistics firm actually wanted. Has anyone else hit this wall where the advice you get just sends you in circles?

Did they also want it written in blood on a napkin that was folded exactly 3 times? Sounds like the recruiter just wanted you to stop asking for feedback.

Whole point of the feedback loop is to catch red flags early, not to make you jump through hoops. Last time I pushed back on that kind of vague stuff, the actual issue was they wanted someone with 5 years of a very specific software nobody uses. Recruiters do this when they don't have a real job description to work from. Best move is to ask one simple question: "What's the one skill that would make you say yes tomorrow?" If they can't answer that, you're saving yourself weeks of wasted effort.
