Update: I sent a thank you email after a job I didn't get... and it worked

I got a rejection for a project manager role last week, but I wrote a short email thanking them for their time anyway. They just called me back about a different opening that's a better fit. Has anyone else had a simple follow-up lead to something new?

How often does that actually work?

Wow, that's awesome! I always send a thank you email after interviews, even for rejections. It keeps you on their radar for other roles, exactly like what happened to you. I got my current job because they remembered me from a different hiring round. It's such a small thing that can make a big difference later on.
