Two weeks of false starts, then I caught my own resume lie
I spent 8 months putting 'project management' on my resume because I ran a volunteer fundraiser in Austin that brought in $3k. Last Tuesday a hiring manager asked me how I handled a missed milestone and I froze, total blank. She said 'it sounds like you coordinated, not managed' and that hit me like a brick. I went home and rewrote it to say what I actually did, like booking the venue and chasing 12 vendors for invoices. Next interview felt honest for the first time and I got a callback the same day. Anyone else ever sold themselves as something they weren't and had it backfire?
