The day a recruiter's voicemail made me rethink my whole resume
I spent 3 weeks polishing my resume for a job in Austin. Every bullet point, every action verb, every stupid little icon. Sent it out, heard nothing. Then one recruiter left a voicemail saying my formatting was so fancy her ATS system couldn't parse my name. She had to manually type my email in. I laughed at people who said plain text resumes worked, now I'm the guy with a black and white Word doc. Anyone else had a fancy resume backfire on them?
