That one coworker who told me passion doesn't pay bills really stuck with me.

She said it during a team lunch at Chipotle right after I talked about wanting to move into a creative role, and I still wonder if she was right or just bitter about her own job.

Passion might not pay the bills directly, but being bitter definitely won't help you land a better job either. Sounds like she was just projecting her own burnout onto your burrito bowl moment. I'd take her words with a grain of salt and a side of guac, honestly.

lmao that reminds me of my friend Sarah who went to a networking event and some guy told her she'd never make it as a graphic designer because she was "too happy" about finishing a project. She just laughed, took his business card, and later found out he'd been laid off three times in two years for bad attitude. The guac line is perfect honestly, people love to tear down someone vibing over a burrito.
