Reached 50k salary at 25 and got two very different takes from my family...
Honestly, hitting 50k felt huge to me. I grew up pretty blue collar and that number always seemed like this big milestone. My dad was proud but my uncle just laughed and said that's nothing anymore, you need 80k to even breathe in this city. It kind of messed with my head for a minute. Has anyone else had that moment where a career milestone you were pumped about got totally downplayed by someone else?

My uncle did the same thing when I hit 60k at 26... told me I was still basically broke. I just started keeping my milestones to myself after that, honestly. Some people can't let you be happy about your own progress.

Oh man, I feel this so hard. I got my first job paying 55k when I was 26 and I was over the moon. Told my cousin at a family dinner and he just laughed and said "that's cute, I made that right out of college." Totally deflated me. Like, I know cost of living is nuts right now but can't we just let people feel good about their own wins? I've started keeping my big moments quiet too, or only sharing with one close friend who I know won't crap all over it. It sucks that we have to do that, but some people just can't stand seeing someone else happy about their own journey.
