Old school career advice still hits different after my nephew's job hunt
Was listening to my nephew stress about his first real job search last week in Austin, and he kept repeating what some YouTuber said about 'personal branding'. Made me think back to my first boss in 2007 who told me, 'just show up early, listen twice as much as you talk, and write down what you learn'. That advice got me through three layoffs and a promotion nobody expected. People still ask about my resume format or LinkedIn photo, but honestly it's the simple stuff that carries you. Anyone else got a piece of advice from an older coworker that still works today?
