My presentation clicker died 3 minutes into a client pitch yesterday

I was presenting to a room of 15 people and my wireless clicker just gave out. Had to awkwardly tap the laptop keyboard for the next 20 slides. Has anyone else had a tool fail at the worst possible moment?

Actually the laptop keyboard move is totally fine in my book. Most clients don't care about the clicker as much as we think they do. I've seen a VP click through three times on accident with a working clicker and nobody batted an eye. The awkward part is all in your head. Half the room probably didn't even notice the switch. Keep your hand near the trackpad and just tap through it like it was the plan all along.

I had a clicker die on slide 12 of a 50 slide deck for a client of 3 years. The silence was deafening when I had to walk over and tap the spacebar. It felt like everyone was staring at me. In hindsight you're right though, the VP thing is a good point. I think we just feel exposed when the tool fails but the room moves on faster than we do.
