Is it worth spending $500 on a career coach? I'm torn here.

I shelled out $500 for a career coach in Chicago last month to help me switch industries, and honestly I'm mixed on it. On one hand, they helped me rewrite my resume and land two interviews I wouldn't have gotten alone. But on the other hand, the advice felt pretty generic like stuff I could have found in a free blog post. Anyone else tried a pricey coach and felt this split about the results?

Did you try negotiating with the coach first? Tbh I used to think career coaching was a total waste, but after one helped me figure out my resume gaps I changed my mind completely.

Oh man @andrewh95 you're totally right. Same thing happened to me honestly. I went into career coaching thinking it was just some overpriced pep talk but my guy helped me see my resume was way too generic. Like I was listing tasks instead of actual results nobody cares about. Funny thing is I was so against it at first but after one session I was like okay this actually helped lol. The whole experience changed how I look at job hunting now.
