I told my 50 year old boss I'd automate half his paperwork and he nearly fired me
Spent three night shifts building a Python script that cut his weekly reporting from 8 hours to 20 minutes, and instead of thanking me he yelled about job security. Has anyone else had older managers reject efficiency this hard?

Sounds like you dodged a bullet by nearly getting fired, now your boss can spend all 8 hours protecting his precious job security. He probably still prints out emails to read them, so automation is basically witchcraft to him. Just start looking for a new gig before he asks you to teach him how to attach a file.

Heard a podcast the other day where some tech exec was saying companies that fight automation are usually the first to go under. Wonder if your boss has thought about that while he's busy making photocopies.
