Got a $1,200 bonus on a Tuesday, then got laid off that Friday, still not sure how to feel
Two weeks ago my manager pulled me into a room at our Denver office and handed me a bonus letter for hitting our Q3 numbers, and I actually called my mom from the parking lot. Then Friday morning HR set up a 15 minute call and I was packing my desk by lunch. Part of me thinks I should have seen it coming since our team lost two big accounts in August, and part of me thinks the bonus was just a way to keep me quiet for a few days. So here is my debate for you all: is a bonus right before a layoff a real thank you or just a smokescreen? Has anyone dealt with a company that pulled this same move, and how did you handle it when you interviewed after?
