Read an article about how data centers got way more efficient in the last decade just by tracking and adjusting their cooling systems. That kind of behind the scenes number crunching adds up to huge cuts in power use across whole companies. Your point about office work making a difference is totally valid, it's just less visible than planting a tree lol.

Actually, a lot of that big efficiency jump came from better hardware too, not just smarter cooling. Newer server designs just use way less power from the start. It all adds up to those huge savings you read about.
