Visited a kid's birthday party and saw the saddest cardboard fort ever
I went to my cousin's kid party last Sunday in Santa Rosa and someone built a fort out of like 4 tiny Amazon boxes taped together. It was basically a closet for one toddler. I wanted to walk over and show them how to make a real two room setup with a window flap but it wasn't my place. Has anyone else seen just really sad attempts at forts where you can tell nobody in the house has ever tried before?

Is this just another sign that building stuff as a family is dying out?

Are people really treating this like some big cultural shift though? I mean, maybe it's just me, but families have been DIY-ing and building stuff together in different ways forever, just not always on social media. My uncle and his kids built a whole treehouse last summer with zero fanfare, no posts about it. Feels like we're reading way into a few loud voices online.
