Two-door fort vs one big open room for my son's 8th birthday, and I went the wrong way
So my son turned 8 last weekend and I had about 14 appliance boxes stacked in the garage from my brother's move, and I had to pick between building one giant open room or two smaller rooms with a connecting door. I went with the two-door setup because I thought the kids would like crawling through, but man, it bit me. The tunnel collapsed around the 30 minute mark because I only taped the joints on the outside, and once that middle wall went down it just turned into one floppy mess. The open room version would have held up way better, I think, since there's less unsupported cardboard in the middle. I ended up re-taping everything with two layers of duct tape on both sides at like 9pm the night before, which took me almost 2 hours. Next time I'm doing one big room with a tarp roof and cutting window holes in the sides. Has anyone built a two-room fort that actually lasted a whole party, and if so what did you use at the seams?
