Took me 6 hours to figure out why my fort kept collapsing

I built this two story fort with a lookout tower using big moving boxes from U-Haul. Every time I got the top floor on, the whole thing would wobble and then crash down. I tried more tape, I tried bracing the corners with extra cardboard. Nothing worked for like 4 hours. Finally I realized the problem was my base boxes were all different sizes and not sitting level on the carpet. Once I shimmed them with some old magazines it held solid. Has anyone else dealt with a wobbly base issue that took forever to troubleshoot?

Heard a trick about putting a level on the floor first to check for dips before building anything big lol.
