The way I tape boxes for forts has changed a lot over 15 years

I was helping my nephew build a fort last weekend and he pulled out that blue painters tape. I told him nah, you gotta use duct tape, the silver stuff. He looked at me like I was ancient. Made me think about how my brother and I used to just grab any tape we found in the garage, even that nasty old masking tape that left sticky residue everywhere. Now with all these fancy tapes and hot glue guns, kids have it easy. Anyone else remember when your fort falling apart was just part of the fun?

wait you're telling me kids these days use painters tape for forts? thats wild. duct tape is the only way to go if you want it to actually hold up for more than 5 minutes. painters tape is basically just for show, it'll peel off the second you bump into it. and yeah hot glue guns are cheating honestly, half the fun was figuring out how to make the tape work without it all collapsing on you. kids these days have it way too easy with all that fancy stuff.

I saw something online the other day where some kid used command strips and binder clips to hold a blanket fort together. Total overkill for something you're just gonna knock down in an hour anyway. Duct tape was the real test of patience and creativity back in the day. If you didn't have to re-tape a corner at least three times, were you even building a fort? Hot glue guns just take all the struggle out of it, which is half the point.
