That kid at the library changed how I tape my forts

Honestly, I used to just slap packing tape anywhere on my cardboard forts and hope it held. But last month at the Austin public library, this 8 year old girl showed me how she tapes the inside seams first, then the outside, and overlaps them by an inch. She said her dad taught her because it stops the walls from buckling. I tried it on my latest fort and the whole structure stayed solid even after my cat jumped on the roof. Has anyone else picked up a random tip from a stranger like that?

Taping the inside first makes so much sense, I never thought of that.
