Painted my box fort pieces before assembling and the tape wouldn't stick at all

I spent last Saturday painting all my cardboard panels for a big castle fort, let them dry overnight, then tried to tape them together Sunday morning. The paint made the cardboard so slick that every piece of duct tape and packing tape just slid right off within minutes. Has anyone found a tape that actually holds on painted cardboard?

Don't see the problem. Box forts aren't supposed to be permanent anyway.

Oh come ON, like I spent all that time taping and balancing just to watch it get knocked over by a gust of wind. Might as well call it "advanced recycling.
