Overheard a dad at the hardware store warn about box fort fire hazards
I was grabbing packing tape last Tuesday and caught a guy telling his kid that a friend's box fort went up in 90 seconds from a nearby space heater. He said the tape and cardboard fumes made it worse, and they lost a garage corner before the extinguisher worked. I've built forts for years with lamps and string lights, but never thought about how close I put them to the walls. I moved all my heat sources at least 3 feet away and switched to battery LEDs only. Anyone else done a fire safety check on their design after a close call?

Cringing at that post because I do the same thing every winter, I've had lamps way too close to cardboard towers and never thought twice about it. Moved everything to battery lights and keep a small extinguisher near my workspace now, just feels better knowing I'm not one spark away from a disaster. Appreciate you sharing this, honestly mightve saved someone's garage.
