My fort collapsed on my cousin's birthday, tape was the enemy all along

Built a 3 story castle out of moving boxes for my 8 year old cousin's party last Saturday in Austin. Thing was huge, like 6 feet tall, but I used packing tape on the seams and it all sagged sideways within 20 minutes. Switched to hot glue and duct tape on the corners for the rebuild, held up for the whole 2 hours, has anyone else had tape fail that fast?

Gotta disagree on this one, tape usually holds fine if you prep the cardboard right. Sounds like you were fighting the box flaps instead of reinforcing the walls first, so it was never gonna stick. Hot glue works, but plain old masking tape with a solid base would've lasted way longer than 20 minutes.
