I finally asked a kid at the library about his fort build
Last Tuesday I was at the public library in Salem and saw this kid, maybe 10 or 11, hauling a stack of those big flat box sheets from the recycling bin. I asked what he was up to and he just lit up talking about how he makes forts with slots instead of tape. He showed me how he cuts notches into the cardboard so pieces lock together like puzzle parts. Said he learned it from a YouTube video about building cosplay armor. I tried it on my next fort and it held up way better than my usual tape job. No tape means you can take it apart and reuse the boxes for different designs. Has anyone else moved away from tape for their forts?

My son figured out the same thing with his cardboard castle last month.
