Does a fort need to be indoor only? My neighbor's feedback made me rethink everything

Last month I posted a photo of my living room box fort, all four towers and a tunnel. A guy commented that it wasn't a 'real' fort unless it was built outdoors in the rain. At first I laughed it off, but then I tried building one in my backyard during a drizzle and honestly, the corrugated cardboard turned into a soggy mess within 20 minutes. He argued the challenge makes it better, the stakes feel higher when the walls might collapse. I switched to taping plastic sheeting over the roof panels and bracing the base with rocks, and that actually held up for a full weekend. So which side are you on: strictly indoor forts or do the elements add to the fun? Has anyone else gotten criticism that totally flipped their building method?
