Built a castle fort for my cat. Realized I was using the wrong tape the whole time.

Spent 4 hours last Sunday making this huge box castle. Towers, drawbridge, the works. Cat wouldn't go near it. Kept sniffing the tape then walking off. Took me another 2 hours to figure out I used packing tape with that strong adhesive smell. Switched to plain masking tape and now she sleeps in there every afternoon. Anyone else mess up the tape choice on a project and have your pet totally reject it?

Oh man, that is totally something I would do. My cat is super picky about smells too, so I get it. I made a little cardboard hideout once and used hot glue instead of tape because she hates the smell of any adhesive. She still sniffs everything for like 10 minutes before she decides if it's safe. Your cat probably just thought the packing tape smelled like a stranger in her castle. At least she uses it now though, that's a win in my book.

Yeah hot glue is the way to go if your cat's a sniffer. I switched to a glue gun after my cat kept sneezing around tape and now she'll crawl into anything I build.
