Blew $55 on a "fort kit" from the craft store and it was just overpriced tape and tiny boxes
I want to save somebody else the headache here. Last month I grabbed one of those fancy fort building kits at the craft store in Naperville, thinking it would save me time cutting and taping while my kids built their castle. Fifty five bucks later I open the box and it has like 12 small boxes, a roll of tape, and a plastic cutter, all stuff I could grab free from behind any grocery store. The boxes were so thin they crushed the second my son stacked a second floor on the tower. The tape peeled off within a day and the whole thing sagged into a pile. I ended up digging actual appliance boxes out of a dumpster behind a furniture place downtown and those held up for two weeks. The kit is now sitting in my garage as a sad reminder. If you want a real fort, hit up a bike shop or an appliance store for the boxes they throw out, they weigh nothing and they're FREE. What's your go to spot for getting good sturdy boxes before a big build?
