A kid at my fort workshop pointed out my box flaps were too big

Last month at a Maker Faire in Austin, this 10 year old came up to my display fort and said my door flaps looked like they'd just flop over and crush the entrance. I was using really wide shipping boxes and cutting door flaps that hung down almost 2 feet. He suggested I cut them shorter, like just over half the height, and add a tape hinge at the top so they fold up like a real door. I laughed at first but tried it on my next build and he was totally right, the shorter flaps hold their shape way better and the hinge makes it feel way more solid. Now I measure every flap against the opening width before I cut and it saves me so much frustration. Anyone else get build advice from kids that ended up being genius? How do you keep your door flaps from sagging?
