Am I the only one who spent 4 hours fixing a squeaky door hinge only to realize it was the cat flap
I had a whole Sunday planned for a hike with friends, but they bailed at the last minute because of rain, so I figured I would knock out a quick fix. That squeak in my hallway had been driving me nuts for 3 weeks, so I grabbed some WD-40 and went at the top hinge. After 20 minutes of spraying and opening the door, the sound was still there, so I took the whole door off and oiled every hinge, then checked the knob and the latch. Around hour 2 I was convinced the frame was warped and started looking up how to shim a door. At hour 4 I finally traced the noise to the cat flap my roommate installed 6 months ago, which had a loose screw making the same high pitched squeak. Has anyone else chased a sound around their place for way too long before finding the dumb obvious source?
