Went from a cheap tarp to a silpoly one on a rainy weekend in the Smokies
I used a basic blue tarp for years under my tent, figured it was fine. Then on a trip last May near Gatlinburg, it rained for 16 hours straight and water pooled under my tent because the tarp didn't breathe. Swapped to a silpoly groundsheet from a friend's recommendation, and the next morning my tent floor was bone dry. Has anyone else noticed a big difference just from switching ground protection materials?

Learned that lesson the hard way myself. Spent a whole night sleeping in a puddle because my blue tarp turned my tent into a kiddie pool.
