Lost a whole weekend to a tent pole that kept snapping

I was setting up my old Kelty tent last Friday and the shock cord inside the pole finally gave out. Figured I'd just replace the cord and be done in an hour, but nope. Took me three trips to the hardware store because I kept getting the wrong diameter cord, then another two hours fishing the new line through the poles. Has anyone else had a simple gear repair turn into a whole day project?

Have you tried using a tent pole repair sleeve instead? Those aluminum tubes slid right over the break and saved me from ever having to restring shock cord again.

Man that's rough, been there with a tent pole repair that turned into a whole lost weekend myself. Ended up just buying a whole new tent instead of dealing with the headache again haha.
