I finally ditched my old 40-degree sleeping bag for a quilt after a freezing night in the Adirondacks.

Woke up shivering at 3 AM because the bag's insulation was crushed under me, so I bought a 20-degree quilt that straps to my pad. Anyone else make the switch and find it way warmer?

Oh man, that 3 AM shiver is the worst alarm clock. I switched a few years back after a similar night where I swear my sleeping bag was actively stealing my warmth. That quilt was a total game changer, no more cold spots from smashed down. It’s like the difference between wearing a stiff coat and just wrapping yourself in a really good comforter.

Wait, your sleeping bag felt like it was stealing warmth? That's such a perfect way to put it. I had one that would get this weird cold line right along the zipper, no matter how I tucked it. It felt like a tiny draft factory was built into the seam. You're making me wonder if I should have tried a quilt years ago.
