Hiked up to Mirror Lake last weekend and my old stove finally gave up

I was trying to boil water for coffee at about 9,500 feet and the burner just sputtered out. It was a basic model I've had for maybe eight years. The cold air up there really showed its limits. Has anyone else had gear fail at high altitude, and what did you switch to?

That altitude is rough on gear. Did you try cleaning the jet or was it just totally dead? My old one would sputter but a good scrub sometimes bought it another trip.

Ever try that high altitude fuel additive stuff? Heard it can help but never tested it myself.
