Am I the only one who ditched my heavy sleeping pad for a foam one?

Used a $150 inflatable pad for years on weekend trips in the Smokies, but after three punctures in six months I switched to a closed-cell foam roll and actually sleep better now, anyone else trade comfort for durability?

That closed cell foam pad decision is a tough one but it worked out well for me too. Switched from a puffy inflatable to a basic foam roll after a leak ruined a three night trip in the boundary waters. The foam is thinner but way more reliable, and honestly my hips don't mind it on soft ground. Been using the same cheap one for two years now without a single issue. Sometimes simple gear just gets the job done better.

Isn't the comfort you lose on a foam pad a real problem for side sleepers though?
