Shoutout to the guy at the Rochester camera show who saved my Rolleicord
I was at the Rochester Photography Show last month, and a retired repair guy named Frank saw me struggling with a sticky shutter on my Rolleicord Vb. He walked me through cleaning the old grease off the blades with lighter fluid and a brush, and it freed up in 5 minutes. I had been using the wrong lubricant the whole time. Has anyone else had a random encounter like that at a convention that totally changed your repair method?

Honestly, I gotta ask - was this really that big of a deal lol? A guy showed you how to use lighter fluid on a sticky shutter, which is like the first thing anyone tells you to try. It's not exactly some secret repair method. Most of those old camera guys have been giving out the same advice since the 70s. I feel like people get all blown away by any random encounter at a show when really it's just basic stuff. Either way, glad your Rolleicord is working now I guess.
