Finally got a Nikon F2 meter ring seated right after 5 tries
Kept forcing it and wondering why the ring sat proud until I backed the ring off and let the pin drop in first, dry, no lube, on a beat up F2 body I picked up in Tucson for $80. Anyone else fight that ring, or do you have a trick for holding the pin back while you spin it down?

So did you figure out the pin drop trick on your own or did somebody have to show you? I'm asking because I've got the same fight every time and I end up just holding it with a tiny screwdriver tip. Does the ring ever freespin on you once it's seated?
