Finally figured out why old shutters stick in summer

Tbh I never realized humidity makes the wood swell until I read a forum post from a guy in Florida. He measured his shutters at 1/8 inch wider in July than in December. Anyone else run into weird seasonal stuff like that with wood parts?

1/8 inch wider in July than in December" - that's basically a whole other pair of shutters growing out of nowhere. I swear my front door sticks every summer and I just tell people it's a feature for "natural insulation.

Is it really that big a deal though?
