Appreciation post: hitting 50 Yashica repairs in one year
I hit 50 Yashica camera repairs last month, which surprised me because I usually work on Nikons. Everyone online says avoid the Electro 35 series due to the pad of death issues. But after doing a bunch of them, I think they're actually easier to fix than people claim. Has anyone else found a specific model that's way more reliable than the forums suggest?

In my first six Electro 35s I had zero return trips, while my Nikormat jobs always seem to need a second look for shutter issues. @carter.hugo, the light seal goo actually wipes off way easier than the foam dust you get in old Nikons that gets everywhere. I'll take a sticky cleanout over chasing a stuck mirror any day of the week.

Huh, I gotta disagree with you there. I've fixed a bunch of Electro 35s too and I still think they're a headache compared to a good Nikormat. The pad of death is easy enough but the light seals turn to black goo in those things and it's never just one problem.
