Spent 3 years stripping coax wrong until a veteran showed me the trick

I was using a regular utility knife to strip coax cable for years. Kept nicking the braid and getting intermittent signal issues. An old timer named Dave on a job site in Nashville watched me for 30 seconds and handed me a proper coax stripper. He showed me how to match the blade to the cable type and now my terminations pass every time without a second look. Has anyone else used the wrong tool for basic tasks way longer than they should have?

I had the same issue with RG6 for way too long.

Oh man, the RG6 struggle is real. I fought with that stuff for months, kept having weird signal dropouts and fuzzy channels no matter how tight I cranked the connectors. Finally switched to RG11 and it was like night and day (no more pixelation during storms, which was a huge win). Still have a drawer full of old RG6 cables I refuse to throw away, just in case, you know? It’s almost a personal grudge at this point.
