Question about hiding lines in renovated spaces

I was fixing up my place's basement and had to run new ethernet. It got me thinking how we used to just staple coaxial along baseboards. Now I'm putting everything in conduit for a clean look. Back in the day, customers didn't care as much about visible wires. We just made sure the signal was good. Today, everyone wants everything hidden and neat. It's a big shift in what the job asks for.

Totally feel this! When I finished my attic, I refused to have any wires showing. I bought these low voltage wall plates and fished everything through the studs. Took forever with a flex bit and drywall patches, but man it looks clean now. My dad saw it and said we would've just tacked it to the ceiling beam back in the day. Different standards for sure.

That flex bit work is no joke.

The clean look is everything now... Back then, just getting a signal was fine, but now every wire has to be invisible. It's more work for sure, but the finished product is way better.
