Found a hidden coax splice that ate 2 hours of my morning
Was tracing a dead outlet in a crawlspace in Nashville and kept getting weird signal drops. Turns out the previous guy had buried a splice joint inside the insulation without any connectors at all. How long do you usually let yourself chase ghosts before calling it and running a new line?

Why waste more time when you already know the fix is to pull a fresh line anyway?

Totally agree with @the_kai on this one. Had a similar job last week where the old line was all crinkled and had a kink in it. Spent a good ten minutes trying to unkink it and fix it, but it just kept bending back. Finally just yanked it out and pulled a new line. Whole thing took maybe two minutes after that. It's always the same story with those little stubborn kinks too, not worth the headache. You end up wasting more time trying to save a few feet of wire than it'd take to just start fresh. Wish I'd learned that lesson sooner, honestly.
