Can we talk about how a 20 year guy changed my whole drop routine with one sentence
Last month I was running a drop through a finished attic in a 1970s split level and an old timer riding with me watched me fight with the fish tape for 20 minutes before he asked why I was drilling through the top plate when I could just notch the drywall corner and patch it after. I switched to that on the next 6 jobs and my drops went from an hour and a half down to about 40 minutes each. Does anyone else here notch and patch instead of drilling, or am I gonna get yelled at by the next QC guy who walks through?

My buddy Dave got chewed out by his inspector for that same trick last spring.
