Visited a custom shop in Portland and they don't use pocket holes at all

I was down in Portland last week checking out a small custom cabinet shop called Birch and Oak. The owner told me he refuses to use pocket holes for any of his face frames, says it's all dowels and domino joinery or nothing. On one hand I get the strength argument but on the other hand pocket holes save so much time on production work. For you guys building high end stuff do you think skipping pocket holes is worth the extra time or is it just snobbery?

Totally agree, same experience at a shop in Seattle last month.

Wow, @matthewgonzalez that really shows how this whole "service with a smile" trend is fading fast.
