Tried pocket hole joinery on a whim and now I'm a believer

I always thought pocket holes were a shortcut for amateurs. Been doing dovetails for 10 years in my shop near Denver. Last month I had to build 12 kitchen cabinets in 5 days and gave it a shot. The Kreg jig I borrowed from a buddy worked way better than I expected. Anyone else change their mind on a technique after trying it out?

Been doing dovetails for 10 years" - man, I totally get that pride thing. I was the same with hand-cut joinery until I tried building a desk with those metal shelf pin clips instead of drilling holes. Felt like cheating for about 20 minutes, then I remembered I hate measuring things twice (which I always do).

Bro, my buddy Tom spent like a whole weekend drawing out a super precise peg layout for a bookshelf with a jig and all. Then he just used some of those cheap metal shelf supports instead and the thing is still standing three years later. He calls it his "cheater shelf" but honestly it looks great and he never has to worry about drilling crooked holes again. I think us wood guys get too caught up in being purists when sometimes the easy way works just as well. He still brags about his hand-cut joints on his coffee table though lol.
