Tried birch ply over poplar for face frames and won't go back
Used poplar for years because it was cheap and easy. After a bad batch of poplar from Menards last month with tons of twist, I grabbed some birch ply instead for a kitchen job in Evanston. The stability difference is night and day, no warping at all after 2 weeks of glue ups. Anyone else make the switch and notice the same thing?

Honestly, birch ply? That's wild to hear. I thought plywood face frames were just for cabinets, not something you'd put on a regular frame like that.

Built a workbench out of birch ply a few years back. Used 3/4 inch for the top and faces, held up way better than expected. Good for stuff where you want a flat surface without the weight of solid wood.
