TIL my old boss in Tacoma used to cut all his dados with a router and a straight edge.
I saw his shop last week and he's switched to a Festool Domino for almost all joinery now. He said it cut his assembly time on a set of kitchen cabinets by about two full days. Has anyone else moved away from traditional dado joints for casework?

Wow, that's a huge time save. I'm curious, did he mention any downsides at all? Like, is the strength or the feel of the joint different when you're not locking things in with a dado?

Used to think dados were a must for strength, but @brookebailey, he showed me the glue bond is actually stronger than the wood itself. The joint feels solid, no wiggle at all.
