TIL a client's feedback made me rethink my whole approach to edge banding...

I was finishing up a set of custom shelves for a lady in Portland last month and she pointed out a tiny gap where the banding met at a corner... said it reminded her of her dad's old workbench from the 70s. She wasn't mad, just mentioned it like it was a normal thing, but it stuck with me all week. How do you guys handle those corner joints on iron-on banding without it looking like a afterthought?

A buddy of mine from the woodworking club over in Eugene had this happen on a built-in bookcase job last year. He used a cheap trim router with a flush trim bit and it chattered right at the corner, leaving a little ridge. The homeowner didn't say anything but he noticed it every time he went back for another project. He started scribing the corner with a sharp chisel before routing and it cleaned that joint right up. Took him an extra ten minutes but he said it was worth it.

Oh man, did he have any trouble keeping the chisel right on the scribe line in the corner? I'd be worried about slipping and taking a chunk out of the face
