Rant: stop cutting on top of your track saw track

I see it all the time in shop tours and even in my own crew. Guys lay the track down, push the saw through, and leave the kerf right on the track face. After a few cuts that rubber grip strip gets chewed up and the track starts slipping on the sheet. I had a job out in Spokane last spring where we had to recut a whole set of upper cabinet panels because the track moved 2mm mid-cut. The fix is simple, put a sacrificial strip of 1/4 ply under the track, or use the foam tape trick. That way the kerf never touches the track. Why do people keep skipping this step? Is there some reason you all dont use a zero-clearance setup on your tracks?
