Pro tip: check your lumber for twist before you leave the yard, even if it's 'premium' stock.
Honestly, I was at the big supplier in Columbus last month picking up a load of 8/4 maple for a built-in. I grabbed the boards from the top of the pile, gave them a quick glance, and loaded up. Two days later, when I went to joint the first edge, I found a 3/8 inch twist over 8 feet on three of the ten boards. The guy at the yard just shrugged and said it was kiln dried and on me now. Ngl, that cost me half a day and a bunch of material. Has anyone else had this happen with a specific supplier lately?

Their "premium" stock just means they charge a premium for it. That shrug from the yard guy is the real price tag. Tbh, you'd have better luck checking lumber at a yard sale.
