Overheard a production shop guy say he never sands glue lines, I gave it a shot yesterday

He said for face frames he wipes the squeeze out with a wet rag while it's still tacky, and honestly after trying it on a cherry build last night, I saved maybe 40 minutes and the joints look cleaner than my old sanding method, so has anyone else switched to the wet wipe approach or am I chasing trouble on softer woods?

Tried it once on pine, ended up with more fuzz than my ex's cat.
