Overheard a homeowner badmouthing soft-close hinges at my install in Nashua

I'm fitting out a kitchen in Nashua and the homeowner walks in with his buddy, starts saying soft-close is a gimmick and that he wants slam-shut doors so he can feel them close. I stopped what I was doing and asked him if he's ever had to fix a hinge after 500 slams. He admitted no, but his buddy kept pushing that old-school is tougher. I showed them the Blum clip I was holding, explained the torque rating and how it absorbs impact, and by the end he asked me to swap all the others. Has anyone else run into customers who think more noise means more durability?
