Overheard a guy at the lumber yard say plywood grades don't matter for cabinets
Some guy was telling his buddy that A1 plywood is a waste for cabinet boxes since nobody sees the inside. I had to bite my tongue but in my shop near Portland I have seen too many cabinets warp or split from using lower grade stuff. Sure it costs $15 more a sheet but I'd rather spend that than deal with callbacks in 6 months. Has anyone else had bad luck saving money on plywood grades?

Used to be that guy. A few years back I figured hey it's just the inside of a box who cares. Then I built a set of cabinets with that cheap import plywood from the big box store and three of the doors started sagging and the panels split right where the screws went in. That was a brutal lesson because I had to eat the cost on that whole job and replace everything (never again). The core layers on lesser grades just don't hold up over time especially in our damp climate up here. So now I pay the extra for a decent A1 or at least a good B2 and sleep better knowing those cabinets will last.

$600 for A1 plywood vs $300 for import stuff, @troymorgan must be rich lol.
